Women’s Hockey falls to #2 Ohio State in overtime

Strom tallies 53 saves in 5-4 overtime loss to Buckeyes
COLUMBUS, Ohio. – The St. Thomas women's hockey team traveled to Columbus to play the No. 2-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes. St. Thomas (8-19-2, 5-17-1 WCHA) held the lead for the majority of the match up, however fell in overtime to Ohio State (22-6-3, 16-6-3 WCHA) on Friday evening, 5-4.
RECAP
After a scoreless 18 minutes at OSU Ice Rink, Lauren Stenslie tallied the game's first goal. Scoring her eighth of the season, Stenslie put the Tommies up one goal after one period of play.
Extending the lead, Maddy Clough recorded her sixth of the season on the power play early in the second period.
Responding to the Tommies' second goal, Ohio State tallied its first of the evening to cut the Purple's lead back to one.
With five minutes to go in the period, Chloe Boreen scored off a pass from Madison Brown, giving the Tommies a 3-1 lead through 40 minutes.
Ohio State recorded three third period goals, as Keara Parker tallied the lone goal of the period for St. Thomas, sending the game into overtime.
Skating 4-on-3 in the overtime period, the Buckeyes scored just over a minute into the frame, defeating the Tommies 5-4 in the series opener.
Totaling 53 saves, this is the second time this season Dani Strom has tallied 50+ saves, and her 14th 30+ save performance this season.
Tommie seniors Clough and Stenslie both posted multi-point games against the Buckeyes.
