Women’s Hockey drops game one to No. 2 Ohio State

Horton scores lone Tommie goal
COLUMBUS, OHIO - The St. Thomas Tommies (12-22-1, 7-21-1) fall to the No.2 Ohio State (31-4-0, 25-4-0) 5-1 in game one of the WCHA playoffs. Whitney Horton scored the lone Tommie goal in the third period.
Scoring Summary:
First Period: The Buckeyes netted the first goal of the game with just five minutes remaining in the first. The Tommie defense blocked 10 shots in the period. Minotti tallied 11 saves in net.
Second Period: Ohio State added two more goals in the second, roughly 30 seconds apart to take a 3-0 lead into the final period of play.
Third Period: Whitney Horton got the Tommies on the board four minutes into the period. The Buckeyes then responded scoring two more in the period to take a 5-1 lead.
Julia Minotti tallied 39 saves in net and the Tommie defense recorded 25 blocks.
Up Next
The Tommies will be back for game two of the best three series against the Buckeyes tomorrow Saturday, Feb. 28. Puck drop is set for 2 p.m. CT.
