Completed in 2025, Lee & Penny Anderson Arena is a state-of-the-art, multiuse venue located on the University of St. Thomas South Campus in St. Paul. The arena serves as the home of Tommie Men’s and Women’s Basketball and Hockey, enhancing the student-athlete and fan experience at St. Thomas.
It features two basketball practice facilities, a second sheet of ice serving both as a practice facility for Tommie Hockey and as a community asset, coaching offices, locker rooms, sports medicine, strength & conditioning, nutrition, and equipment. The Lee & Penny Anderson Arena also houses team spaces for the Tommie Softball and Soccer programs.
Fans will have an experience like never before in St. Paul, as the Lee & Penny Anderson Arena features various premium seating options including three premium clubs (Legacy Club, Reuben’s, Capital Club), four private suites, courtside/on-the-glass seating, and 12 loge boxes.
The $175 million facility stands as a signature investment in the university’s future. Beyond athletics, the arena hosts a variety of university and community events including commencement ceremonies, concerts, lectures, and career fairs, positioning it as a central hub for campus and regional engagement.
Lee and Penny Anderson – two long-standing benefactors of Minnesota’s largest private university – gifted $75 million to construct a multiuse, on-campus arena in St. Paul. The donation is one of the ten largest known collegiate athletics gifts ever received nationally. In total, the Andersons have donated nearly $140 million – including multiple gifts to scholarships and in support for veterans resources – to the mission-driven, Catholic university. Lee and Penny Anderson’s most recent contribution to the University of St. Thomas launched the campaign for the Lee & Penny Anderson Arena.
