Maria Cooper records first collegiate goal in loss to the Buckeyes.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The St. Thomas Women's Hockey team traveled to Ohio to face the top-ranked Buckeyes.
Seven second period goals lifted Ohio State over the Tommies on Friday evening.
RECAP
Ohio State opened scoring four minutes into the first period. The Buckeyes held the 1-0 lead until Maria Cooper carried the puck down the ice off a defensive zone face off, and put one past Ohio State's Amanda Thiele. Cooper's first collegiate goal sent the game into the first intermission knotted at 1-1.
However, the Buckeyes offensive pressure led to seven second period goals for the Buckeyes.
Going into the final period with an 8-1 lead over the Purple, Ohio State scored four more third period goals to top the Tommies 12-1.
Olivia King recorded 29 saves through 40 minutes, and Maggie Malecha added nine more in the final period.
