Prior to St. Thomas: Graduated from Bishop Heelan High School in Sioux City, Iowa in 2020. Earned a 4.20 GPA, gold honor cord at graduation, silver cord at graduation for completing sixty plus hours of service, and was on National Honor Society in grades 11 and 12. Senior year was elected Student Body Treasurer. State Champions for the 2019-2020 basketball season and earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team. Selected for First-Team All-State. Became a 1,000 point scorer during the 2019-2020 season. Holds the second place record for Assists in a career (407) for Bishop Heelan as well as the second place record for Steals in a Career (287). High school basketball team was State Semifinalists for the 2018-2019 season. Played soccer all four years of high school, with the team's highest achievement of being the Runner-Up at the State Tournament during the 2018 season.
Family: Daughter of Craig and Jane Stanley, who live and work in the Dakota Dunes, South Dakota area. Her brother is a Junior at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and her sister is a freshman at Bishop Heelan High school.
What is your favorite sports memory? Winning the State Championship last year with her best friends.
Why did you choose St. Thomas? Katelyn said she chose St. Thomas because it felt like the perfect fit for her. The people here are so friendly and welcoming. On her visit, the teammates and students that she met made her feel like a part of the community before she even committed.
What is your career aspiration or Dream Job? Majoring in Biology with aspirations to become an Optometrist.
Who is your favorite athlete? Jimmy Butler who plays for the Miami Heat.
What is your favorite band/singer/artist? Eric Church.
Where have you volunteered? Katelyn says her favorite place to volunteer at is her Church's Friday Fish Fry's. Every year for the past four years during Lent she helps serve food, clean tables, wash dishes, and enjoy getting to know more people in her parish.
