Played AAU basketball for the Minnesota Fury for 5 years

Family:  Daughter of Tom and Mary Burns. Has two brothers, Alex and Will, and a sister Grace, who is a University of Saint Thomas alumni of the class of 2018. Her grandfather Charles B Kornmann, who is now a Federal District Judge, was part of the St Thomas alumni class of 1959. Her Uncle Nik was part of the graduating class of 1992, and her uncle Chris attended St Thomas from 1986 to 1988.

Why did you choose St. Thomas? Kate chose St. Thomas because it was close to home while also being in the city. She says she loved the sense of community here, and with the small class sizes, you have the opportunity to bond and make connections with all of your professors.

What is your career aspiration or Dream Job? To major in biology while going on the pre-med path. Dream job is to be a pediatric physician's assistant.

What is your favorite vacation spot or future destination? Costa Rica. Her family recently went there for a vacation and loved every minute of that trip! In the future she would love to travel to Australia.

Who is your favorite athlete? Madison Kocian

What is your favorite meal? Any taco or burrito.

What do you do in your free time? Watch Netflix or movies. She enjoys being creative and doing things such as painting or sewing. Kate also goes on walks with her dog.
