Family: Daughter of Amy and Bill Hohenekcer. Hailey’s mom went to Northern State University, in South Dakota where she ran Track and Field. She is in the NSIC Hall of Fame and the Northern State University Hall of Fame. She is an 8X NAIA All American and holds several indoor and outdoor records. She is now a teacher at Providence Academy where she teaches the 4th grade. She also is the Head Track and Field Coach and an Assistant Cross Country Coach. Hailey’s dad worked 26 years in the NBA and is now working for Kevin Garnett. Hailey has an older brother, Tyson who is going to school and living in California. Hailey also has a younger sister, Brooke who is a freshman in high school at Providence Academy, in Plymouth and she plays basketball and runs Track and Field.
What is your favorite sports memory? Hailey’s favorite sports memory is when her high school, Providence Academy, made it to the State Tournament for the first time in 7 years. She says her senior year basketball season was filled with a lot of amazing memories as they won the Conference, Section, and won our first game of the State Tournament. Due to COVID-19, the season got cut short and they weren't able to finish the rest of the games. Even though they didn't get to play those last couple of games, making it to state is a huge accomplishment for Hailey and she will always treasure that memory.
Who is your favorite athlete? Kevin Garnett
Who inspires you or is a role model? Hailey’s parents are her biggest role models. Her mom is a role model because she embodies a follower of Christ, is a determined woman, and is dedicated to success, which is what Hailey aspires to be. She is always putting others before herself and always respectful of others which is what Hailey tries to embody everyday. She has shown Hailey that with God on her side, she can do anything if she trusts in Him. Hailey’s dad also inspires her as he pushes her everyday to be the best person and athlete that she can be. He started Hailey at a very young age by showing her what passion looks like and how she can better herself in order to inspire those around her. He always has players and coaches to show her what aspects of her game she can improve on. Whether it's with lifting, ball handling, shooting tips, speed, agility, you name it and he is always there supporting Hailey and giving her the tools to succeed.
What is a pre-game ritual? Praying right before she steps onto the court before every game. In the locker room she also always slaps the top of the door before they leave to go out for the court.
What is your craziest ambition on your bucket list to do? Zip line down a mountain.
What is your favorite meal? Steak and cheesy hash brown potatoes.
