Track & Field begins indoor season Friday at Minnesota

Multi-events to start at 10 a.m. from University Fieldhouse in Minneapolis

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The 2025-26 St. Thomas indoor track & field season gets underway Friday, Dec. 5 at the M City Indoor Classic hosted by the University of Minnesota.
 
Friday's events at University Fieldhouse begin at 10 a.m. with the men's heptathlon, followed by the women's pentathlon at 10:45 a.m., field events at 2 p.m. and running events at 3:30 p.m. The men's heptathlon will conclude Saturday starting at 10 a.m.

The St. Thomas men return 10 point-scorers from the team that finished sixth at the 2025 Summit League Indoor Championships. Grad student Jack Rosner set a program record in the heptathlon to finish second for All-Summit League honors, the only returning all-league athlete.
 
Also returning as point scorers are Ben Batalden (DMR), Blake Burnstad (4x400m), Brendan Harter (high jump), Cameron Heppner (4x400m relay and 800m run), Jayson Koel (200m dash), Adam Lueth (5000m run), Isaac Nowak (mile and DMR), Ethan Starfield (DMR) and Maki Whelan (heptathlon).
 
Rosner and Heppner were named the St. Thomas Athletes to Watch in the 2025-26 Summit League Indoor Track & Field Preseason Coaches' Poll released on Wednesday.
 
The women bring back eight point-scorers from the 2025 league meet where the Tommies finished fifth. Senior Alexis Pratt broke the 200m program record en route to a bronze medal and All-Summit League honors. Joining Pratt as an all-league members returning are Rebecca Randleman and Olivia Keller, who helped the 4x400m relay to a bronze finish. Keller was also a point scorer in the pentathlon and long jump while Randleman added a point in the 200m dash, 400m dash and 4x400m relay.
 
Other returning point scorers include Danika Apple (60m and 200m dash), Malayh Metcalf (DMR), Ella Olson (pentathlon) and Sophie Yetter (DMR).
 
Apple and Keller were selected as the St. Thomas Athletes to Watch in the Summit League Preseason Coaches' Poll.
