Relay records reset across the board for Track & Field at Drake Relays

Tommies total 11 program records while also at Gary Wilson and Rider/Bolstorff Invitationals
ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The relay teams of St. Thomas outdoor track & field excelled at the prestigious Drake Relays, combining for a slew of program records including multiple set at the Gary Wilson Invitational and Rider/Bolstorff Invitational from April 22-25.
WOMEN
The St. Thomas women delivered a record-breaking performance across multiple meets, highlighted by Olivia Keller's dominant weekend and a series of historic relay efforts at the Drake Relays.
Keller set two program records, finishing second in the 400-meter hurdles at the Gary Wilson Invitational in 58.74, a mark that leads the Summit League and ranks 16th in the NCAA Midwest. She followed with another record in the 800m run (2:06.54) at the Drake Relays, rankings 16th in the region and first in the league.
Relay success defined the weekend for the Tommies. The 4x100m relay team of Jayi Wilson, Alexis Pratt, Danika Apple and Cassia Cady set a program record of 44.96 at Drake, ranking sixth in the NCAA Midwest and first in the Summit League. The 4x400m relay followed with a program-record 3:38.78, also leading the league and ranking 10th in the region. Additional program records came from the 4x1600m, sprint medley and distance medley relays, while the shuttle hurdle relay placed third with a record-setting 59.17.
In the field events, Brooke Wisdom and Morgan Koppelman each cleared 4.08m in the pole vault to set program records in their respective divisions at Drake, both ranking 11th in the NCAA Midwest and third in the Summit League. Lauren Rott added a second-place mark in program history in the hammer throw (50.36m) at Rider/Bolstorff, while Alaina French claimed a discus victory.
The Tommies totaled nine top-five finishes at the Gary Wilson Invitational and three more at Rider/Bolstorff.
MEN
The Tommie men turned in a strong weekend anchored by two program-record relay performances and several high-level regional marks. The 4x800m relay of Samuel Gausmann, Ethan Foote, Ben Batalden and Cameron Heppner clocked a program-record 7:28.39 at the Drake Relays, shaving nearly three seconds off the previous mark. The shuttle hurdle relay team of Seth Johnson, Jack Rosner, Vincenzo Miller and Braeden Brouwer followed with another record-setting effort, finishing in 59.58.
St. Thomas also saw success in sprint relays, as the 4x100m relay team of Jack Weigel, Brouwer, Jayson Koel and Jacob Gilbertson placed third at Drake with a time of 40.82, ranking sixth in program history while moving to 11th in the NCAA Midwest and third in the Summit League. The 4x400m relay added a fourth-place finish and sits third in the league.
Individually, Andrew Eichmann led the field events with a fourth-place javelin throw of 57.33m at the Gary Wilson Invitational, ranking seventh in program history and 21st in the NCAA Midwest. Sam Hebert and Weigel added wind-aided sprint marks that rank among the Summit League's best this season, while Chase Johnson recorded a 7.04m long jump to place among the league's top eight.
Across the weekend, the Tommies totaled six top-five finishes at the Gary Wilson Invitational and added two more at the Rider/Bolstorff Invitational.
UP NEXT
St. Thomas hosts its lone meet of the season Wednesday, April 29 with the Joe Sweeney Invitational at O'Shaughnessy Stadium before traveling Friday, May 1 to the Badger Challenge in Madison, Wis.
