Tommies open conference play with 3-0 loss to Kansas City
ST. PAUL, Minn. – The St. Thomas Men's Soccer team welcomed the Kansas City Roos to South Field for the first Summit League match of the season. In the conference battle, the Tommies (3-3-2, 0-1-0 Summit) fell to Kansas City (6-2-2, 1-0-0 Summit) on Saturday afternoon.
RECAP
To open the conference match, the Tommies successfully defended three consecutive corner kicks from Kansas City to keep the Roos off the board. Kansas City held the advantage in corner kicks 5-0 through 45 minutes, and 7-0 in today's match.
After tallying eight shots with two on target, the Roos recorded the first goal of the game in the 38th minute, carrying the lead into halftime.
Midway through the second frame, the Roos added their second goal to extend the lead. Continuing the pressure through the remainder of the game, Kansas City added its third goal of the game with just over three minutes to play.
Adding four shots in the final 14 minutes of play, St. Thomas attempted to cut into the Roos lead, however the Tommies ultimately fell to Kansas City, 3-0.
Krenc made three saves in net while Gunnar Busch and Sid Kerr played all 90 minutes in front of him.

"Disappointing start to conference play," Head Coach Jon Lowery said. "The good news is we are right back at it on Wednesday. We knew this was going to be a challenge through these eight conference matches, so we are going to learn from it and get right back to work."
