The Titans scored twice in second half in first home loss for the Tommies in 656 days
ST. PAUL, Minn. – The University of St. Thomas (0-1-0, 0-0-0) fell to Detroit Mercy (1-0-0, 0-0-0) 2-0 on Thursday at South Field. Despite the loss, the Tommies managed to record four shots, with one on goal, in the match.
The first half began with both teams demonstrating defensive intensity. The Tommies faced several fouls early on but maintained composure as Moritz Krenc made a crucial save from a shot by Detroit Mercy's Thero Mitchell III at the 30:54 mark. Despite an offside call against St. Thomas and an attempt by Owen Marshall that went wide, the period concluded without either team finding the net, leaving the score at 0-0.
In the second half, Detroit Mercy took the lead with a goal by Johnny Strickler, assisted by Thero Mitchell III, at 62:20. St. Thomas attempted to respond, but faced challenges breaking through the visitor's defense, with a notable shot from Jacob Nokken going wide. Detroit Mercy extended its lead with another goal from Strickler at 75:10. The Tommies pressed forward with Quentin Hauswald taking a late shot on target, but it was saved by Colin Monroe.
