Owen Marshall and Jacob Nokken each scored in 2-0 victory

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The University of St. Thomas men's soccer team (2-1-2) defeated St. Cloud State (1-2-0) 2-0 on Wednesday at South Field. The Tommies scored once in each half and posted a shutout for the first time this season.

St. Thomas opened the scoring in the first half at 12:15, when Owen Marshall finished Oliver Corris' assist for a 1-0 lead. Corris helped drive the attack with three shots in the half, including two on frame, and Lorenzo Jacon later hit the woodwork at 36:07. Moritz Krenc saved Johan Lopez's shot at 41:30, and the Purple and Gray took the 1-0 lead into halftime. Marshall's goal was his first as a Tommie.

Jacob Nokken scored at 74:54 to push St. Thomas' advantage to 2-0. It marks the second consecutive home game with a goal for the freshman from Blaine, Minn. Earlier, the Tommies generated eight shots and two corner kicks from 55:40 to 65:17, with Luke Marshall putting a shot on frame during that stretch. Krenc made a save in the 89th minute as St. Thomas finished off the 2-0 win.

The Toms are now unbeaten in their last four games since dropping their home opener to Detroit Mercy.
