Ednilson Voiles recorded seventh brace in program history
ST. PAUL, Minn. — The University of St. Thomas (1-1-1) secured a decisive 4-1 victory over Chicago State (0-3-0) on Thursday at South Field. The Tommies exploded with four second-half goals to seal the win.
The match opened with St. Thomas showing offensive intent, as Owen Marshall delivered an early shot wide at 2:21. Eliot Beaumale continued to apply pressure with multiple attempts on goal, but Chicago State's goalkeeper, Jabulile Mooketsi, remained steadfast with key saves. The Tommies managed a series of corner kicks, with Johann Joensen coming close to breaking the deadlock, hitting the left woodwork at 31:47. Despite several attempts, St. Thomas could not find the net, ending the first half tied 0–0 with Chicago State.
St. Thomas surged in the second with a decisive offensive display, highlighted by Ednilson Voiles scoring twice. Voiles first found the net at 59:09 with an assist from Jacob Nokken, followed by another goal at 62:44 assisted by Quentin Hauswald and Nokken. Lorenzo Jacon added to the lead at 71:40, assisted by Owen Marshall, before Nokken capped the scoring for the Tommies at 80:33 with an assist from Jacon.
Chicago State managed to break through with a goal by Bill Okumu at 81:50, assisted by Karma Bhagentsang, but it was not enough to counter the home team's strong offense. The game concluded with St. Thomas securing a 4-1 victory.
Ednilson Voiles notched two goals, including the game-winner, leading the offensive charge for the Tommies. Jacob Nokken contributed a goal and two assists, making four shots on goal. Moritz Krenc finished with one save in his full 90 minutes in goal. Quentin Hauswald added an assist and converted both his shots on target.
