Women’s Hockey set for final series of the regular season against Minnesota State

The Tommies will play a home-and-home series against the Mavericks, playing final home game of the season on Saturday afternoon
ST. PAUL, Minn. – The St. Thomas Women's Hockey team faces Minnesota State for the final weekend of the regular season. Puck drop is set for 3:00 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 23rd at Mayo Clinic HSEC and 2:07 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24th at Saint Thomas Ice Arena.
Saturday's contest will be Senior Day and Tommie Buck Drop. Tickets are on sale for just $1 to see the Women's Hockey team on home ice one final time this season.

Last Time Out
Last weekend, St. Thomas faced off against No. 1 Ohio State. The Tommies were swept by the Buckeyes, falling 12-1 and 4-1.
Maria Cooper scored her first collegiate goal on Friday against Ohio State. Ella Boerger added her team-leading 11th goal of the season on Saturday afternoon.
Scouting the Mavericks
The Minnesota State Women's hockey program (12-21-0, 6-20-0 WCHA) is led by Head Coach John Harrington in his ninth season.
Offensively the Mavericks are paced by Sydney Langseth, who has posted 14 goals and 16 assists so far this season. The Mavericks have earned a ranked win over then No. 8- St. Cloud State in January.
Tommie Seniors
Saturday's contest is Senior Day, honoring four St. Thomas student athletes who have led the Tommies and have made in impact on the program on and off the ice.
· #1 Olivia King started in her first collegiate game with the Tommies against Franklin Pierce on Sept. 30, earning her first collegiate win. This season King has played in 20 games, recording a 5-11-1 overall record.
· #10 Isabel Lippai has played four season and 96 games with St. Thomas. Lippai has recorded three goals and four assists, including two power play goals in Purple.
· #14 Allie Monrean has set a new program record in total games played for St. Thomas, skating in 136 games. Allie has recorded 20 goals and 17 assists in her five years so far as a Tommie.
· #23 Brieja Parent has competed in three seasons for the Tommies, transferring to St. Thomas her sophomore season. Parent has played in 91 collegiate games, recording 22 points, including three power play goals.
Milestones
· Juniors Abby Promersberger, Maddie Jurgensen and Maddy Clough have all reached 100 games played in Purple.
· Allie Monrean hit the 100 DI games played milestone against the Minnesota Duluth, and set a new program record in total games played for St. Thomas, skating in 136 games.
·Calla Frank recorded her 2000th career save against Ohio State on Saturday. Frank closed that game with a Tommie career high 49 saves.
Record Breakers
The Tommies have set a DI era scoring record, totaling seven goals in a single game twice this season. 17 skaters have scored goals for the Tommies, led by freshman Ella Boerger, who has found the back of the net 11 times. Boerger's 11 goals have also set a record of goals scored in a single season.
In 33 games played, Boerger (11G, 11A– 22P), Bartz (8G, 12A – 20P) and Nicole Vallario (5G, 9A– 14P) have passed the DI single season record in points scored for the Tommies. The previous record was 13 total points set by Maddy Clough (2022-23 season) and Abby Promersberger (2021-22 season).
Bartz, Boerger, Vallario and Maddy Clough have also surpassed the single season record in assists (previously 8), and Bartz has tied record for power play goals scored in a single season (3).
Offensive Growth
The Tommies have scored 63 goals throughout 33 games of the 2023-24 season, while the Purple totaled 53 through 36 games just last season.
The Purple have faced non-conference opponents Franklin Pierce, Lindenwood, Cornell and Harvard. In four games played, the Tommies have outshot non-conference opponents 225-115 and outscored opponents 25-16.
This season, the Tommies have scored 14 power play goals. Last season the Tommies scored eight on the power play, and recorded 11 with the player advantage during the in 2021-22 season.
D-Side
The purple defense continues to make an impact not only in the defensive zone, but offensively as well. Junior defender, Nicole Vallario has recorded career-high 14 points (5G, 9A) in 33 games played.
Junior captain, Maddy Clough leads the Tommies both on and off the ice. Clough has totaled 10 points (1G, 9A) and recorded the shootout winner over Bemidji State on Jan. 26.
Defensively, Ellah Hause leads the team and ranks 4th in the WCHA in blocked shots, blocking 61 shots in 33 games played.
