Madison, Wisc. – No. 5-ranked Wisconsin scored five goals from four different players and limited Tommie Women's Hockey to eight shots on goal in Friday's 5-0 home win at La Bahn Ice Arena.
Wisconsin (4-1-0) scored five goals at even strength from four different players with Grace Shirley tallying two in the series opener in Madison. The Badgers allowed only two shots on goal in the final period of play.
The Toms (0-1-0) kept the game close through the opening third entering the first intermission trailing 2-0 behind a 17 save performance from sophomore goaltender Saskia Maurer.
Maurer ultimately finished with 38 saves in her first start of the 2022-23 season and was the backstop to a successful penalty kill unit that did not allow a Badger goal in their one attempt.
