Overtime shot sinks Women's Hockey in 2-1 loss

10/15/2022 10:15:00 PM | Women's Hockey

Mendota Heights, Minn. -- Franklin Pierce came away with a split of a two-game weekend series vs. St. Thomas Women's Hockey with some overtime heroics Saturday night.

Mikayla Kelley scored her second goal of the contest -- 2:54 into the 5:00, 3-on-3 sudden death OT session -- to close out the Ravens' 2-1 victory over St. Thomas.

The Purple (1-3) set their D-I era record for shots on goal with 57, and allowed only 20 shots on the evening. They had 37 shots on goal in Friday's 3-0 win that opened the weekend series.

But the only offensive score the Toms generated on Saturday came from Maddy Clough, who contributed her first goal of the season early in period two to tie the score 1-1.

Saskia Maurer had 18 saves in another crisp performance for St. Thomas.

The Ravens (1-2) received 56 saves from Suzette Faucher in a memorable performance.
