Tommie split double-header against Mavericks

Owen Marsolek tallies seven strikeouts in game two

ST. PAUL, MINN.- The St. Thomas Tommies split the Saturday double-header with the Omaha Mavericks. The Mavericks took game one 12-2 in eight innings, and the Tommies came back in game two, winning 15-3 in seven innings. 

Game One: 

Omaha struck first plating two in the third and two in the fourth to take a 4-0 lead.  

Joe Roder homered in the fourth, the get the Tommies on the board and cut the deficit to three. The Mavericks then responded by adding two more of their own in the fifth and then plated four in the sixth, taking a 10-1 lead.  

Chris Knowles hit the second Tommie homer of the day to add a Tommie run. Omaha then added two in the eighth to take the game 12-2. 

Game two: 

The Tommie offense came alive in game two as they struck first plating one in the first, Owen Bonds single scored Tanner Recchio.  

St. Thomas kept the momentum going in the second, bringing three runs across on a Matthew Maulik three run home run.  

The third proved to be the biggest for the Tommies as they plated six runs. Joe Roder led the charge with a bases loaded triple, and Owen Bond contributed with a solo home run. 

Omaha then got on the board by plating one in the fourth.  

The sixth inning also proved to be a good one for the Purple as they plated five off an Evan Raabe single and a Easton Fritcher triple. 

The Tommies then held Omaha scoreless in the seventh to win 15-3. 

Owen Marsolek threw a complete game in game two tallying seven strikeouts.

St. Thomas will be back for game three of the series March 28th at 1 p.m.
