Tommies host Butler in Homecoming showdown

ST. PAUL, MINN. – The University of St. Thomas football team is returning to O'Shaughnessy Stadium. After a month on the road, the Tommies will host Butler University in a Homecoming showdown on Saturday, October 4.
PREGAME FESTIVITIES
PURPLE ON THE PLAZA: Purple on the Plaza, presented by Wings Credit Union, will start at 11:00 a.m. on the John P. Monahan Plaza. The pregame fanfest is free for all to attend and will include performances from the Tommie dance and cheer teams, an appearance from Tommie, prizes, giveaways, and fun for all.
For Homecoming, there will also be a student tailgate located on the upper quad of St. Thomas' north campus.
HALL OF FAME CEREMONY: The wall unveiling for the St. Thomas Athletics 2025 Hall of Fame Class will take place prior to Saturday's football game. It will begin at 12:00 p.m. on the second floor of the Anderson Athletic and Recreation Complex (AARC). The class itself will be honored at halftime of the football game.
PRIDE & PASSION SCHOLARSHIP: St. Thomas students will have a chance to win a $3000 scholarship during the fourth quarter of Saturday's game.
HOW TO WATCH
Tickets are still available for Saturday's Homecoming game between the Tommies and Bulldogs and can be purchased at www.tommiesports.com. Students can claim their tickets online as well.
STREAMING: Saturday's game will stream on MIDCO+ and the MIDCO Sports Plus app. For the low price of $29.99 a month, St. Thomas fans can purchase a Midco Sports All-In package, giving them access to the Summit League Network, CCHA TV and all Tommie football games. For $9.99 a month, fans can purchase a different package, giving them access to the Summit League Network and all St. Thomas home football games.
RADIO: Fans can listen to Saturday's contest between St. Thomas and Butler on 1500 ESPN and through the Varsity Network App.
LIVE STATS: Live stats will be available through tommiesports.com.
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO:
CASHLESS CONCESSIONS: Concessions will be available for purchase inside O'Shaughnessy Stadium. Vendors will be selling both classic stadium fare and more upscale options as well as various drink options. Please note that all concessions at football are cashless beginning this season.
PARKING: Fans will be able to park in the Anderson Parking Facility (APF) free of charge for Thursday's season opener, which is located at the corner of Cretin and Grand Avenue. Street parking is also available on a first come, first serve basis.
TICKETS: Fans must digitally download tickets to their Apple Wallet or Google Pay prior to arriving at O'Shaughnessy Stadium. Additionally, all gates will open one hour prior to kickoff.
TOP STORYLINES:
HOME SWEET HOME: This will be the Tommies' first home game since August 28, 2025. St. Thomas opened the season with a significant 35-13 win over Lindenwood University, the program's first victory over a DI scholarship program. Since 2016, the Tommies are 35-3 at O'Shaughnessy Stadium, and head coach Glenn Caruso owns an all-time record of 94-8 on the field.
HOMECOMING: St. Thomas is 3-1 in Homecoming games since making the leap to Division I in 2021. In those four contests, the Tommies averaged 21.0 points per game while holding opponents to 12.3 points per game. The lone Homecoming loss of the DI era occurred last season, when St. Thomas' bid against rival Drake came up short, 22-19.
CAT GOT YOUR TONGUE?: The Tommies have won several significant games against Butler. St. Thomas beat the Bulldogs 36-0 for its first Pioneer Football League (PFL) win of the DI era and defeated Butler 17-10 on Homecoming in 2023.
