Tommie women’s soccer travels to Northern Iowa on Friday afternoon before returning home for a matchup with Viterbo on Sunday.
ST. PAUL, Minn. – St. Thomas Women's Soccer (2-2-1 overall) comes out of week three on a roll with two consecutive non-conference road victories against Marist and Siena. They look to continue their strong run of play with two more non-conference matches this week.
The Purple's first game of the week has them heading down to Cedar Falls, Iowa to faceoff with the Panthers of Northern Iowa (3-1-1 overall). This week's contest will be the fourth between the two sides. St. Thomas' record against UNI is 1-1-1 with their last win coming on 9/5/22 in Cedar Falls. Abby Brantner and Lexi Huber each scored in the 3-0 victory. The Toms were shutout at home last season, 1-0.
The Viterbo V-Hawks (1-2) are a novel opponent from the NAIA. The Tommies have played them in exhibitions in the past, but this will be the first regular season non-conference matchup between the two.

Lexi Huber comes up HUGE
Lexi Huber's back-to-back game-winning goals have netted her Summit League Offensive Peak Performer of the Week.
The Lakeland, Minnesota native led the Tommies to a 2-0-0 record last week with her stellar offense and timely goals. She sent in the team's only goal in their 1-0 win over Marist last Thursday and came up clutch with a game-winner in the final minute to down Siena, 2-1 on Sunday.
"Lexi came out strong in both games and created great opportunities. She was able to put away both game winners and we are proud of her composure in front of goal," shared head coach Sheila McGill.
Huber is currently tied for the most goals in the Summit League with three through five games. She is the overall leader in goals per game at 0.6. Her two game-winning goals are also tied for the most in the conference. The senior's 1.2 points per game have her in third in the Summit.
A Productive Week
Game One
Lexi Huber's third-minute goal was enough for the St. Thomas Women's Soccer team (1-2-1) to down the Marist Red Foxes (0-3-1) for their first win of the 2024 season on Thursday night at Tenney Stadium in southern New York.
Huber's goal was the second of the season. Olivia Rowe earned her sixth career shutout with three saves.
Game Two
St. Thomas Women's Soccer (2-2-1, 0-0-0 Summit) rallied in the final minute with a goal to break a 1-1 tie after allowing a penalty shot goal in the waning minutes to the Siena Saints (2-3-0, 0-0-0 MAAC) on Sunday afternoon at Hickey Field.
Lexi Huber was once again the hero with her third consecutive road-game goal and second consecutive game-winning goal, this time with 37 seconds remaining. Olivia Rowe made five saves in goal for the Tommies including a pivotal stop of a penalty shot in the 77th minute.
March to the Summit
The Tommies were picked to finish eighth out of the nine teams in the Summit League Preseason Coaches' Poll after their 1-5-2 conference record in 2023.
Last season's regular season conference champion Denver Pioneers were voted to the top of the poll edging out challenger South Dakota State by two points (61-59). The Purple finished with 15 votes, placing them between North Dakota State (24) and North Dakota (14).
Both Mariah Nguyen and Olivia Rowe were named Players to Watch by the conference office.
Nguyen led the Purple in goals (five), points (12), and shots on goal (13) last season while Olivia Rowe started every game between the posts in 2023 and earned five shutouts.
