Tommies cross the country in busy track & field weekend

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- A busy weekend awaits St. Thomas track & field as the Tommies will send competitors to four meets across four states from April 11-13.

Members of both the men's and women's teams will compete April 11-12 at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif., April 12-13 at the Bison Outdoor Classic in Lewisburg, Penn., April 12 at the Jim Duncan Invitational in Des Moines, Iowa, and April 13 at the Bethel Invitational in St. Paul.

St. Thomas men's and women's track & field each recorded four event wins during the programs' first full outdoor meet Saturday, April 6 at the Ashton May Invitational, highlighted by a record in the javelin set by Anna Swanson.

Swanson broke her own record in the javelin in La Crosse, Wis., winning the event with a mark of 47.50 meters (155-feet 10-inches) to best her previous record by 1.13m set last season at the Drake Relays. She was one of three Tommie women to set top 10 marks all-time in the event Saturday.

Overall, the men brought in four event wins and seven top three finishes, led by 17 personal records. The Tommies also set four top 10 marks for the program overall. The women finished with four event wins and 11 top three finishes. They totaled 18 personal records and set 10 top 10 marks all-time.
