Women’s Hockey falls to No. 2 Wisconsin in game one of WCHA Quarterfinals

Lauren Stenslie records the Tommies’ two goals in a 4-2 loss to the Badgers
MADISON, Wis. – The St. Thomas Women's Hockey team opened WCHA playoffs in Madison, Wis. on Friday evening, facing the No. 2 Wisconsin Badgers.
The Badgers earned a win in game one of the best-of-three series, defeating the Tommies 4-2.
RECAP
Game one of the WCHA Quarterfinals remained scoreless through the first period of play at LaBahn Arena.
Calla Frank recorded 13 saves in the opening period, and the Tommie defense recorded 14 blocked shots.
Wisconsin got on the board first, scoring less than a minute into the second period, and tallying its second at the halfway point of the middle frame.
Less than two minutes after the Badgers scored their second goal, Lauren Stenslie went end-to-end to cut Wisconsin's lead 2-1, sending the Tommies into the second intermission down by one goal.
Wisconsin extended its lead once again just over halfway through the third period, taking the 3-1 advantage.
With seven minutes to play in the game, Stenslie recorded her second of the night to make it a one-goal game. However, less than a minute later Wisconsin scored its fourth of the night, adding to the Badger's lead once again.
Down two goals, St. Thomas pulled Frank to play with an extra skater with 1:27 to go. Unable to put another past the Badger goaltender, Wisconsin ultimately won game one of the WCHA Quaterfinals, 4-2.

· Lauren Stenslie scored the Tommies' two goals tonight and led the squad with shots on goal, recording four shots on net.
· The Tommies recorded 23 blocked shots, led by Rachel Golnitz and Lauren Stenslie who each tallied four.
·Calla Frank finished the night totaling 27 saves against Wisconsin.
