QUOTEABLES
Thoughts from men's head coach Pete Wareham after his team's fourth place finish:
"I am very proud of our guys. They competed really hard in each race and each event. We spent months preparing for this competitive moment so that we could step up under pressure and perform. We had to win a lot of close battles throughout the weekend. The attitude and effort of our guys is something I am very proud of. We continue to build the program brick by brick and these guys are raising our level of competitiveness each day."
Thoughts from women's head coach Ashley Lucas following the record-breaking weekend:
"Whenever you have a weekend and walk away with three school records, you have to be proud. Myself and the coaching staff are extremely proud of how the team did. We scored more points than we were supposed to on paper and I really feel like everyone competed with grit and gave it everything they had, highlighted by Taynian (Walgrave), Olivia (Keller), and Molly's (Desotell) school records. I also though Alicia (Belany) fought all weekend in the 800 meter to make a final, outperform her seed and then come back for a great anchor leg of the 4x400 meter. Alexis (Pratt) wasn't supposed to make a final and did in the 60 meter. Ava Pankratz had a gutsy weekend with the 3K and 5K double and Morgan (Koppelman) had some great looks at the height she went out on.
"The team gained a lot of valuable experience heading into outdoor season and we return our point scorers for next year so we are looking forward to continue building."
