BROOKINGS, S.D. -- Sophomores Caden Nordberg and Alexis Pratt broke St. Thomas track & field program records for the second time this season as the men's and women's teams competed at the SDSU Indoor Classic Saturday in Brookings, S.D.
Nordberg claimed second in the mile Saturday with a time of 4:07.26, topping his previous program record, set Jan. 20 at the Cyclone Open, by over one second. Pratt set the Tommie standard in the 200-meter dash for the second consecutive week with a third-place time of 24.72. She bested her previous time by 0.3 seconds set Feb. 3 at the Ted Nelson Classic in Mankato, Minn.
The duo was part of three top-three finishes for the men and four top-three finishes for the women. In total, the men recorded seven top-five finishes and saw 20 personal records set, while the women totaled 10 top-five finishes with 26 personal record marks set.

Thoughts from men's head coach Pete Wareham on the SDSU Indoor Classic:
"This was a very good meet to help us prepare for the Summit League Championship. Caden Nordberg dropped his school record in the mile and Max Westerlund ran outstanding in the mile as well. Cameron Heppner, Thomas Dundon and John Morrison had great 800m races and followed with fast legs on the 4x400m relay.
"We are two weeks out from the conference championship and we will use those days to fine tune our preparation. We expect tough competition in all events."
Thoughts from women's head coach Ashley Lucas after completing Friday and Saturday's events:
"Our student-athletes continue to impress with their dedication and determination. Setting 26 personal records speaks volumes about their hard work and commitment to excellence. Alexis Pratt broke the 200m dash record for the second straight week while freshman Becca Randleman's top-15 ranking in the Summit League during her first 400 meter race of the season is a testament to her talent and potential.
"Ava Pankratz and Elsie Kmecak showcased incredible improvements in the mile, dropping their personal records significantly. Freshman Lauren Rott's consistency in improving her personal record in the shot put week after week is remarkable while she also set her best mark in the weight throw. Overall, our ladies are showing great strides in where we want to be at the conference championship."
