Rylee Bartz scores the game-winning goal to put Tommies up, 4-3
Mendota Heights, Minn. – It was an incredible finish for the St. Thomas women's hockey team Friday night as freshman Rylee Bartz netted the game winner, and her second goal of the game with 15 seconds left, propelling the Tommies to a 4-3 win over Lindenwood.
Recap
The Tommies got off to a fast start, scoring three goals in the first period, as Maddie Brown netted the first goal of the night just five minutes into the game.
That wouldn't be the only goal St. Thomas scored in the first period, as Bartz buried her first goal of the night with four minutes to play in the period one. The goal was assisted by fellow freshman and linemate, Ella Boerger. Junior, Nicole Vallario added to the Tommies' lead, scoring with 55 seconds to go, as the Tommies headed into the first intermission with a 3-0 lead.
Momentum shifted in the second period, as Lindenwood scored two goals of their own. The Lions drew three penalties in the second period, capitalizing on one of the powerplay opportunities. Lindenwood continued to make a push, scoring their second goal of the period just three minutes later, cutting the lead 3-2.
Third period play started with both teams battling to win the game. The Lions continued with their offensive push from period two, scoring midway through the final frame and tying it up at three apiece. A great save by goalie Calla Frank would keep it tied until the final minute, when Bartz scored her second goal of the night with 15 seconds left to play. The Tommies earned their third win of the season, 4-3, over the Lions.

Coach Johnson on the 4-3 win over Lindenwood and undefeated start to the season:
"It's been fun to see everything come together in terms of wins and losses, but we still have some work to do. Tonight's game showed that while we're making progress in a lot of great areas, we still have some things to clean up, and I'm excited about that."
