Men’s Soccer set to play conference opponent, Kansas City in final road match of the season

Tommies travel to Kansas City to face the Roos in a Saturday night match
St. Paul, Minn. -- St. Thomas Men's Soccer (2-9-3) heads back on the road for the final time in the 2023 season, facing the Kansas City Roos on Saturday, October 28th.
St. Thomas and Kansas City met earlier this season on Sep. 29th. The Tommies and Roos tied on South Field, by a score of 1-1.

Denver Recap
Last weekend, the Tommies faced Summit League leader, Denver. The Pioneers scored early and often in the first half of play. Denver found the back of the net three times within the first 12 minutes of play. Denver found their first shot on goal less than a minute into play, with Moritz Krenc making his first save of the game. The Pioneers launched nine shots, putting six on goal during the first 45 minutes.
The Pioneers scored their fourth goal in the final minute of the first half. Denver totaled seven shots on goal in the first half, with Krenc stopping three shots.
Offense started in the second half with a shot by the Tommies, however it was blocked by the Pioneers. Denver scored their fifth goal of the night in the 62nd minute of play. After the Pioneer goal, the Purple tallied two more shots towards the goal, but both were blocked. Krenc recorded three more saves, finishing the game with a total of six saves.
The Pioneers ultimately defeated the Tommies by a score of 5-0.
Green Bay Recap
On Tuesday afternoon, the Tommies faced their final non-conference opponent of the season, Green Bay. The match remained scoreless until Miles Akhigbe scored his first collegiate goal in the final minute of the first half, sending the Tommies into halftime with a 1-0 lead.
Green Bay responded with a goal of their own off a penalty kick in the 48th minute of play. The equalizing goal was Green Bay's third shot on goal of the afternoon.
In the final two minutes of the game, Green Bay put one past Moritz Krenc to take the lead. The Tommies could not find an equalizing goal in the final minutes of play, and ultimately fell 2-1 in Green Bay.
Home Field Advantage
The Tommies are now unbeaten in their last three home contests and hold a 2-1-2 record on South Field this season.
At home, the Tommies have allowed just five goals against from 21 shots on goal so far this season, shutting down top-ranked opponents with rock solid defense.
The Mann, Krenc Tandem
Senior goalkeeper, Tucker Mann, has played five games in net for the Tommies, posting a 1-2-1 record during the 2023 season. Mann has played 381 minutes and posted a 1.89 GAA so far on the season.
In his career, Mann has played in 26 games for the Tommies. Mann has so far recorded 118 saves, 1.75 GAA, and .733 SV%. Mann has earned three shutouts in his career and has an overall record of 4-16-4 in his four seasons with the Tommies.
His goalkeeping partner, freshman Moritz Krenc, has played ten games in net for the Tommies, posting a 1-7-2 record during the 2023 season. Krenc has played 878 minutes and posted a 2.46 GAA so far this season.
Combined the tandem has posted a 2.29 GAA so far this season and a clean sheet to help the Tommies.
Graduate Student Spotlight
Graduate students Isaac Eckroth and Wes Lorrens have been key players for the Tommies since they began their journey at St. Thomas.
Defender, Wes Lorrens, transferred to St. Thomas and has played 47 games, recorded three goals and one assist, and totaling 3381 minutes with the Tommies.
Defender, Isaac Eckroth, has played his five seasons with the Tommies, competing in 63 games, tallying one goal and five assists in 4844 minutes played. Isaac leads the Tommies with minutes played in the DI-era, followed by Lorrens.
Eckroth and Lorrens, along with sophomore, Gunnar Busch, are the only three Tommies who have played and started in all 14 games this season. The trio have all played over 1100 minutes this season, led by Busch with 1231 minutes.
Scouting the Roos
The Kansas City Men's Soccer team is led by head coach Ryan Pore in his fourth season. In three seasons, head coach Ryan Pore has put together a record of 15-20-11.
Junior midfield, Julien Le Bourdoulous, leads the Roos with points so far this season. Le Bourdoulous has scored two goals and tallied five assists for nine points. Goalkeeper, Robin Balters, has played five full games for the Roos, making nine saves, and posting a .692 SV%, while coming off two consecutive clean sheets.
