Track and Field has good start to outdoor season in Arizona

Tucson, Ariz. - Freshman Gary Afram clocked a career-best 10.64 for the 100 meters to highlight the St. Thomas Track and Field showing Saturday in day two of the U of Arizona Willie Williams Invite.
John Morrison (1:55.09) and Morey Smith (1:56.46) had solid times in the 800 to start the outdoor schedule.
Four Toms made their 110 hurdles season debut outdoors: Carter Maack (15.02), Jack Rosner (15.16), Erik Anderson (15.23) and Sam Duffing (15.56).
For the Tommie women, Carly Scheuerman (2:18.71) and Molly Desotell (2:19.16) has good starts in the 800; Hannah Cornelius ran 58.78 in the 400 dash; and Taynian Walgrave clocked 14.72 in the 100 hurdles.

In Friday women's highlights for St. Thomas:
- Molly Reighard (63.12) and Hailey Hindt (64.30) placed 3-4 in the 400 hurdles.
- In the 5,000, Christina Bolcer (18:37.31) and Gabbie Bolcer (18:58.56) placed 5-6.
- Megan Gehrke placed eighth in the shot put (43-3 1-4) and 12th in the hammer throw (151-9).
- Freshman Maggie Olejnik took 15th in the long jump (17-4).
- In the 1,500, Lauren Ellefson (4:48.33); Carly Scheuerman (4:48.61); and Molly Desotell (4:50.60) placed 12-13-16.
