Track and Field at Hamline on Sat., starts busy month outdoors

St. Paul, Minn. - St. Thomas Men and Women's Track and Field will be competing in its second outdoor meet of the season on Saturday, April 2 nearby at the Hamline Invitational. The coed competition is set to begin at 11 a.m., at Klas Field on the Pipers' campus.
The Purple will be facing off against athletes form other local scholarship programs in the University of Minnesota and Concordia-St. Paul, as well as competitors from Minnesota and Wisconsin Division III teams.
St. Thomas has entered a majority of its athletes on both teams, including more than a dozen freshmen set to compete in their first collegiate outdoor meet.
Two weeks ago, the Tommies started the 2022 outdoor season with a partial squad of 13 women and 14 men competing in Tucson, Ariz. at the Willie Williams Classic, in Tucson:
Men's Highlights:
- Freshman Gary Afram and sophomore Nate Carlin both clocked career-bests in the 100 meter, with Afram's 10.64 landing an 8th place finish.
- Freshmen Jack Rosner and Sam Duffing both recorded their career-bests in the 110 Hurdles, along with senior Erik Anderson clocking outdoor career-best times in the 110 and 400 Hurdles.
- Freshman Isaiah Hopf jumped a career-best to a 6th place finish in Long Jump (7.09m).
- Senior Parker Feuerborn, the lone thrower for the Tommies, threw a career-best 204-02 in the Hammer Throw for a second-place finish.
Women's Highlights:
- Seven freshmen set career-bests in their first collegiate outdoor meet.
- Graduate student Molly Reighard recorded a third-place finish in the 400 Hurdles for her first outdoor meet with St. Thomas with freshman Hailey Hindt finishing just behind in fourth place in her first collegiate outdoor meet.
- Sophomore Christina Bolcer and senior Gabbie Bolcer placed 5-6 n the 5,000.
- Senior Megan Gehrke threw a career best 151-9 in the Hammer Throw.
