Women's Hockey falls to No. 2 ranked Ohio State 6-0

Mendota Heights, Minn. – The reigning national champion Ohio State Buckeyes were relentless in their effort in dealing the St. Thomas Tommies a 6-0 setback on Sunday at the Saint Thomas Ice Arena.
Ohio State got the scoring for the day started on a shot from distance by Lauren Bernard that just got between the pads of Tommie netminder, Alexa Dobchuk with 13:00 left in the opening frame.
Ohio State added three more goals in the second period. The third goal came off the stick of Sophie Jacques who now has 12 goals in 12 Buckeye games this season. Assisting on the play was Emma Maltais who has 12 assists in 12 games.
The Buckeyes tallied two more in the final period to put the Purple away.
Alexa Dobchuk spent all 60 minutes between the pipes and helped her team go perfect on the penalty kill (2-2). Dobchuk finished with 52 saves, her most this season, and her greatest tally since 2/19/22 when she stopped 59 Minnesota shots.
Neither team scored on special teams, each with two opportunities.
The Buckeyes outshot the Tommies 58-9 and outdrew the home team 40-21.
Next Up
The Tommies are on the road again to face Lindenwood for a non-conference series in the great state of Missouri this Thursday and Friday.
