Women's Hockey falls 5-2 at UW-Superior

Despite being outshot each night, UW-Superior completed a weekend women's hockey sweep of St. Thomas with a 5-2 victory Saturday night at Wessman Arena in Superior. The Yellowjackets also defeated the Tommies 1-0 Friday night in Mendota Heights.
The Yellow Jackets (7-3-1) broke to a 3-0 lead, then were called for four consecutive penalties. St. Thomas finally cashed in on fourth infraction and got within 3-1 when Jamie Tiede scored (assisted by Jaci Lang and Jackie Carroll).
The Tommies (8-2) made it a 4-2 game when Taylor Schluter scored at 13:00 of the third period with an assist from Tiede.
UWS completed the scoring when Holland put the puck into an empty net with five seconds remaining.
Rikki Nespor picked up the win in goal for UWS, finishing with 35 saves and Lauren Bradel stopped 25 of 29 shots for St. Thomas.
UST is idle until a Jan. 3 home game vs. No. 1-ranked Amherst.
