Personal:  Biology major…daughter of Marie and Mark Gernes

What did you do this summer?... I traveled to Peru for three weeks and volunteered at an orphanage, went on an Alaskan cruise with my family, worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Valley View Healthcare and Rehab, as well as assisted in coaching middle school and high school girl's summer basketball camps at Cotter High School

What have you enjoyed most about UST?... During my time here at UST, my favorite part has been getting to know and play with all these other amazing and driven women on our basketball team. I have also really enjoyed theopportunity of becoming a Sports Medicine Assistant at St. Thomas and being able to work with other UST athletic teams.

What makes St. Thomas Special?...St. Thomas is special because of the various networking connections they have here.

What is something St. Thomas has taught me so far?... St. Thomas has taught me how to manage my time and be how to be willing to push myself in everything I do, whether that be work, school, or athletics in order to reach my fullest potential.

What advice do you have for future Tommie Basketball players?... Be confident in yourself and your ability because you are here for a reason. Another piece of advice that I have for future players is to not be afraid to fail or make mistakes because through experiencing those hard times is how we learn and improve.

What are you looking forward to most this year?... What I am most looking forward to this year is my senior basketball season and sharing this experience with this team. I am also excited to see how far we will be able to go this year.

What is a professional development outside of basketball at UST you are in?... For anyone interested in the medical field, I would suggest applying to become a Sports Medicine Assistant (SMA). I have enjoyed getting to work with other athletic teams here at St. Thomas, as well as getting to learn different tape jobs and other medical treatments. Another group that I really enjoy is intramurals. Intramurals offer so many great opportunities to meet new people along with staying active.

What is your favorite meal place on campus? off Campus?... My favorite meal place on campus is The View, especially their weekday breakfasts. My favorite off campus place to eat is Nelson's ice cream because you get so much tasty ice cream for a cheap price.

What is your ambition or dream job?... I am currently a Biology major with the hopes of getting into graduate school this coming summer/fall for becoming a Physician Assistant (PA).

Do you have any notable or unique talents or hobbies?... Every time I travel to a foreign country I buy an ornament. In other words, I have a foreign ornament collection.

What is your favorite Band?... My favorite singer is Luke Bryan

What is on your pre-game mix?... “The Only Way I Know” by Jason Aldean

Who is your favorite athlete?... Athletes that I really enjoy are Maya Moore, Moriah Jefferson, and Alex Morgan.

What is on the top of your bucket list?... On the top of my bucket list is to someday visit all Seven Wonders of the World.
