Men and women compete in Texas while women send distance athletes to St. Louis
ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The 2026 outdoor season officially begins March 26-28 as St. Thomas men's and women's track & field travels to compete at the Wash U Distance Carnival in St. Louis and Clyde Hart Classic in Waco, Texas. The women will send athletes to both meets while the men will compete only in Texas.

Previewing 2026 Outdoor
Both St. Thomas track & field programs enter the 2026 outdoor season positioned among the Summit League's top half, as the Tommie women were picked to finish tied for fourth and the men also slotted tied for fourth in the league's preseason coaches' poll. Under fourth-year head coach Ashley Lucas, the women return a strong core that placed fifth at last year's outdoor championships, highlighted by multiple all-league performers and a championship in the 4x100-meter relay, including 2025 Newcomer of the Championship Danika Apple. On the men's side, veteran head coach Pete Wareham begins his 33rd season with a group that finished fourth at the 2025 outdoor championships and returns key all-league contributors.
St. Thomas features a blend of proven performers and rising talent on both sides. Graduate student Chloe Staub and senior Alexis Pratt headline the women's Athletes to Watch after standout 2025 campaigns that included a runner-up finish in the javelin for Staub and multiple program records and a relay title for Pratt. The Tommie men are led by returning decathlon champion Jack Rosner and sprinter Jayson Koel, both named Athletes to Watch after all-league performances a year ago.
