Tommies fall to Gophers in midweek matchup

Roder led the Tommie offense with 2 hits
MINNEAPOLIS, MINN.- St. Thomas falls 15-5 at Minnesota, Wednesday evening. Joe Roder led the Tommie offense with 2 hits, one of which was a three-run homerun in the fifth.
Scoring Summary:
The Tommies plated two runs in the top of the first to take an early 2-0 lead. Owen Bond got the scoring started with a sac fly to score Tanner Recchio. Joe Roder then doubled to bring in Adam Puder.
Minnesota responded, plating one run of their own in the bottom half of the first cutting the Tommie lead to just one.
The Gophers then added three in the bottom of the third to take a 4-2 lead.
The fifth inning was a big one for the Tommies as Joe Roder's three-run homerun gave the Purple a 5-4 lead.
Minnesota then plated eight in the sixth to take a 12-5 lead. The Gophers then scored two in the seventh, extending their lead 14-5, they then plated one in the eighth to take the 15-5 lead.
Up Next:
The Tommies will be back at Koch Diamond for the first time this season when they host Omaha March 27-29.
