Tommies score eight to run win streak up to five games

1/3/2026 10:39:00 PM | Men's Hockey

Jake Braccini led the way with four points and two power play goals

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The St. Thomas Men's Hockey team (11-7-3, 8-3-2) extended its season-best win streak to five games after another comeback victory over the Ferris State Bulldogs (4-18-0, 3-11-0) on Saturday night at Lee & Penny Anderson Arena. Jake Braccini led the way with his first career four-point game in the dominant 8-4 win.

Will Ingemann got the starting nod in net for the first time since mid-November and coughed up two early goals at 4:39 and 11:34 but his team had his back with a boatload of offensive support.

The Toms' charge did not take until the third period like the previous night, it came right away in the final seven minutes of the first period at 13:22, 17:53, 18:35, and 19:49. First it was Jake Braccini on the power play from Lucas Van Vliet and Charlie Schoen, the second time in as many nights Braccini tallied the Tommies' first goal.

Three even strength goals followed. Friday night's hero, Hayes Hundley scored for the third straight game from Braccini and Alex Gaffney on a seeing eye shot through traffic from the point. Under one minute later, Lucas Wahlin scored from Chase Cheslock and then his linemate, Attila Lippai scored with 11 seconds to go in the period from Gaffney.

St. Thomas peppered the second period with four more goals at 2:22, 7:55, 16:31, and 19:51. The Purple got goals of nearly every variety in the frame, first an even strength goal from Nick Williams (assisted by Braccini). Jake Braccini then earned his fourth point of the night on the power play just over five minutes later from Cheslock and Van Vliet.

Alex Gaffney added his NCAA-leading third shorthanded goal of the season from Wahlin and then Nathan Pilling scored on the power play with nine seconds to go in the frame from Hundley and Van Vliet.

The Bulldogs got two goals back in the third period but could not mount a strong enough comeback. The Tommies outshot Ferris 34-19 and are now 8-2-2 this season when recording at least 30 shots.

The eight goals were the second most this season scored by one of the nation's top offenses and the most in CCHA play by the Tommies this season. Will Ingemann earned his third career win in his first start since November 15.
