Baseball earns 4-1 victory over Omaha

Four-run fifth frame lifts the Tommies to a win on Saturday
ST. PAUL, Minn. -- St. Thomas baseball hosted the Omaha Mavericks in game two of a three-game Summit League series. After four scoreless innings at Koch Diamond, a four-run fifth lifted St. Thomas (22-19 overall, 16-7 Summit) to a victory over Omaha (17-24 overall, 10-13 Summit) on Saturday afternoon.
After four scoreless innings in St. Paul, St. Thomas was the first on the board. Adam Puder and Tanner Recchio drove in the Tommies' first two runs of the game in the bottom of the fifth frame.
Ben Vujovich then doubled the Purple lead with a two-run home run, lifting the Tommies to a four-run fifth inning.
Omaha posted its first and only run of the game in the top of the eighth inning, as St. Thomas defeated the Mavericks by a score of 4-1 in game two.
Riane Ritter (4-1) shutout the Mavericks over 7.0 innings of work. Ritter allowed six hits, totaling five strikeouts and not walking a batter.
Max Skilbeck picked up his fourth save of the season, recording three strikeouts in the final two frames on Saturday afternoon.
With the win on Saturday, the Tommies claim the season series against Omaha.
