Baseball begins nine-game homestand hosting Minnesota

The Tommies set for midweek matchup against the Gophers, before welcoming Omaha for Summit League series
ST. PAUL, Minn. – The St. Thomas baseball team returns home, beginning a nine-game homestand over the next two weeks.
This week, the Tommies are set to host Minnesota on April 30, before welcoming Omaha to Koch Diamond from May 2-4.

Last Time Out
The Tommies traveled to Tulsa, Okla., facing Oral Roberts in a four-game series over the weekend.
St. Thomas split the weekend series, earning the season-series victory over the Golden Eagles.
Remaining on top of the Summit League Standings, St. Thomas holds a 15-6 record in conference play.
Next up for the Tommies
• St. Thomas is set to host Minnesota in a midweek matchup on Wednesday, April 30 at 3:00 p.m.
• The Gophers have defeated St. Thomas in both matchups this season, holding an 8-1 record against the Tommies in the DI-era
• This will be the first meeting between the two teams at Koch Diamond
• St. Thomas baseball will host Omaha in a Summit League series from May 2-4.
• The Tommies swept Omaha back in March of this season, holding a 12-6 record over Omaha, including a 5-3 record at home.
2025 Schedule
St. Thomas will play nine of its final 12 games at Koch Diamond. The nine-game home stretch includes opponents from three conferences: the Big Ten, Horizon League and Summit League.
The Tommies will be on the road in Greeley, Colo. for the final series of the 2025 season, playing Northern Colorado.

In his 16th season with St. Thomas, Chris Olean has totaled an overall record of 406-252-1 (338-148-1 in NCAA Division III) since being named the head coach prior to the 2010 season. Olean hit the 400-win milestone against Northern Colorado on April 5.
Tommie Leaders
•In 38 games played, graduate student Max Moris leads the Tommies with a .347 AVG, .934 OPS, .437 OB% and 73 total bases.
• Sophomore Tanner Recchio paces the Tommie offense in hits (53), runs (41), and stolen bases (25). Recchio leads the Summit League in stolen bases and runs scored.
• Walker Retz leads the Tommies with a 4.38 ERA, totaling 47 strikeouts in 51.1 innings. Marcus Kruzan holds a 7-0 record, leading the Summit League in wins.
Tommie Offense
•The St. Thomas offense has exploded this spring, totaling 270 runs in 38 games played. In 2024, the Tommies recorded 307 runs through 46 games.
• 10 Tommies have combined for 31 home runs so far this season.
• With a .297 team batting average, the Purple leads the conference. Three Tommies rank in the top 10 in the Summit League in batting average.
Look Back at 2024
Last season, St. Thomas won its first Summit League championship in the DI-era. The Tommies finished with a 22-24 overall record (16-10 Summit League).
St. Thomas Baseball earned eight honors on the 2024 All-Summit League Teams, including seven returners: Max Moris (First Team), Brigs Richartz (First Team), Jacob Mrosko (Second Team) Evan Esch (Second Team), Matthew Maulik (Second Team) Tanner Recchio (Second Team), and Joe Roder (Honorable Mention).

• Olean mentored seven DIII All-American pitchers. He was voted MIAC and Midwest Region Coach of the Year in 2012, 2013, and 2021. In addition, Olean works with the Tommie pitching staff, which was a perennial top-10 group in DIII baseball.
