Baseball falls to Omaha in series opener

Maulik records sixth home run of the season in 6-1 defeat
ST. PAUL, Minn. -- St. Thomas baseball hosted the Omaha Mavericks in game one of a three-game Summit League series. Scoring first in the series opener, Omaha (17-23 overall, 10-12 Summit) held the lead to defeat St. Thomas (21-19 overall, 15-7 Summit) at Koch Diamond.
After two scoreless innings, Omaha was the first on the board on Friday afternoon. The Mavericks added a pair of runs before Matthew Maulik posted a solo home run in the bottom of the third inning.
However, Omaha remained in the lead, adding four runs across the final four innings and defeating St. Thomas 6-1 on Friday.
Marcus Kruzan (7-1) and Zak Endres combined for eight strikeouts and six scoreless innings in game one against the Mavericks.
