CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. –   St. Thomas baseball continued its four-game series at Austin Peay with a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. The Tommies picked up a win in game one of the day, falling in game two of the doubleheader at Joe Maynard Field.

GAME ONE (W, 8-4)
St. Thomas was on the board first in game one, scoring three runs in the opening frame. The Tommies held the lead through the entirety of the game, defeating Austin Peay 8-4.

Matthew Maulik posted his first home run of the season, extending the Tommies' lead to 5-2 in the top of the fourth frame.

Back-to-back RBIs by Tanner Recchio and Maulik extended the Purple's lead to 7-4 through eight innings. Adding a run in the ninth, St. Thomas broke Austin Peay's eight-game home-win streak.

Four Tommies posted multi-hit games led by Max Moris (3-4).

Lucas McNellis made his first collegiate start, recording two hits, including a double, against the Governors.

Bryce Leedle, Kody Dalen (1-0) and Max Skilbeck combined for eight strikeouts and five scoreless innings, not allowing more than a run in a frame. Through 3.2 innings, Dalen allowed one hit and totaled six strikeouts.

GAME TWO (L, 8-6)
An RBI-single by Adam Puder put St. Thomas on the board first once again in game two of the doubleheader. However, Austin Peay responded with three runs of its own in the bottom of the second to take the lead for the first time today.

A four-run fifth frame led by a 2-RBI single by Ben Vujovich put the Tommies back in the lead. The Governors added one in the bottom of the frame, evening the game at 5-5 through five.

After the Tommies took the lead in the top of the seventh, Austin Peay tallied a three-run seventh to regain the lead. Unable to complete the comeback bid, the Governors defeated St. Thomas, 8-6.
