Baseball drops series finale to the Governors, 15-14

Tommies fall in one-run game to Austin Peay on Sunday afternoon

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. –   St. Thomas baseball completed its four-game series at Austin Peay with a Sunday afternoon matchup. After falling behind early in the contest, St. Thomas posted runs in six consecutive innings. However, Austin Peay regained the lead late in the game to defeat the Tommies in the series finale.
 
For the first time this series, Austin Peay was on the board first posting a six-run opening frame.
 
Zan Von Schlegell recorded his second home run of the season in the top of the second, posting the Tommies' first runs of the afternoon. The Tommie offense continued rolling, scoring in six consecutive innings.
 
Taking its first lead of the game, St. Thomas tallied a five-run sixth to go up 12-9.
 
Austin Peay regained the 15-14 advantage in the bottom of the eight, taking the one-run lead headed into the ninth frame. Holding the Purple off the board, Austin Peay defeated St. Thomas in the series finale.
 
Ben Vujovich totaled three hits, three runs and one RBI on Sunday afternoon. Joe Vos and Von Schlegell posted two hits and three RBI against the Governors in game four.
 
In 4.2 innings of work, Riane Ritter recorded three shutout frames, totaling career-high seven strikeouts.
