The Tommies finished in the top three with two other Summit League teams
LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The University of St. Thomas Women's golf team struggled in the final round of the 2025 Jackrabbit Invitational but held on to a share of second place with North Dakota State. The hosting South Dakota State Jackrabbits won the competition nine strokes clear of the Tommies and Bison.
Recap
It was a turbulent tournament for the Purple out in Sin City with two tough rounds sandwiched around the lowest team round of the tournament. The Toms shot a 300 (+12) during the first 18 followed by that team-low 282 (-6) in the second round and finished with a 306 (+18) on the final day for a team score of 888 (+24). Not only was the second round score the lowest of any team, but it was also one of two team rounds (NDSU 287) to go below par out of 45 total.
South Dakota State shot a 289 (+1), 292 (+4), and 298 (+10) for a 879 (+15) to take the team title. The Jackrabbits, along with CSU Northridge, were the only two programs to shoot below 300 each round. Northridge finished in fourth, one stroke behind the Tommies and Bison.
St. Thomas defeated fellow Summit League foes North Dakota (6th place, +35) and Omaha (7th place, +39) to come tied for second among the five Summit squads.
The Tommies did have two top 10 finishers, three in the top 15, and four in the top 20. Nicole Reineke and Emma Davies tied for eighth place with a 220 (+4), seven strokes behind the winner, McKenzie Mages of South Dakota State 213 (-3).
Reineke shot eight over par in the first round, two under par in the second, and even par in the third round. She birdied three and parred 14 of the other 15 holes for her 70 (-2) during the second round. It was tied for the Tommies' best individual round of the tournament with Kathryn VanArragon and Isabelle Lynch's second round scores.
Davies also went best in the second round but was a little more consistent than Reineke with a +1 on the first, E in the second, and +3 in the third. The junior shot a -3 on the front nine of her second round but bogeyed and then doubled 15 and 16.
Kathryn VanArragon took 14th place at 223 (+7) with a 72-70-81. The sophomore standout birdied three and parred three in the first round. She birdied five and bogeyed three during the second round and then struggled on day three with a pair of birdies and bogeys and three triples.
Isabell Lynch finished tied for 19th with a 225 (+9), she went 77-70-78. That 70 (-2) included a +3 front nine and -5 back nine with five birdies. That very same back nine gave her fits on the third day when she shot +10.
Claire Schweim finished tied for 55th with a 236 (+20) at 81-78-77 and Ameilia Morton finished tied for 66thwith a 241 (+25) at 78-81-82.
