Women’s golf take sixth at Summit League Championship

Davies, Stefansdottir lead St. Thomas with top-11 finishes
MESA, Ariz. – St. Thomas women's golf carded a 15-over-par team score in the final round of the Summit League Championship at Longbow Golf Club, finishing sixth overall. Emma Davies and Karen Lind Stefansdottir each placed tied for 11th to lead the Tommies.
Davies paced the Purple with one of the team's best rounds of the tournament, firing a 72 (+1). She bookended her round with an eagle on the opening hole and a birdie on the final hole to climb into the top 11. The senior improved in each round (78-75-72) and led St. Thomas at the Summit League Championship for the second time in her career.
Steffansdottir also closed strong, posting a 74 (+3) to move up one spot into a tie for 11th.
All-Freshman honoree Genevieve Birkeland recorded her best round of the tournament with a 75 (+4). She played bogey-free through 17 holes, highlighted by birdies on holes 11 and 15 but a tough finish left her in 29th place.
Amelia Morton rounded out the team scoring with her top round of the week, a 78 (+7), moving up one spot into 33rd. Kathryn VanArragon carded a 79 (+8) and finished 23rd overall.
As a team, St. Thomas posted a 299 (+15), one stroke higher than their second-round score, and slipped to sixth place. South Dakota moved ahead with a 291 (+7), one of the lowest rounds of the tournament.
