VanArragon, Birkeland earn Summit League honors

VanArragon named to All-League First Team; Birkeland earns All-Freshman Team recognition
ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Summit League office announced its women's golf end-of-year honors, with two St. Thomas student-athletes recognized for their standout seasons. Junior Kathryn VanArragon earned All-Summit League First Team honors, her third career all-league selection, while freshman Genevieve Birkeland was named to the All-Freshman Team.
VanArragon led the Tommies throughout the season, posting a team-best 74.0 scoring average across her 22 rounds in the regular season, tied for second lowest mark in the conference. She recorded six rounds at or below par and notched a top-five finish at the Diane Thomason Invitational. VanArragon also fired a team-low 69 in her final round before the conference championship at the Coach Mo Classic. She currently ranks No. 495th nationally according to Scoreboard by Clippd.
Birkeland turned in the top scoring average among Tommie freshman at 77.58 over 24 rounds. She posted two rounds at or below par in her debut season and ranks No. 1,161 nationally, placing her among the top five freshman in the Summit League.
St. Thomas returns to action at the Summit League Championship, set for April 26-28 at Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Arizona. Fans can follow the action via live scoring.
