Stefansdottir climbs 16 spots after even-par second round at Summit League Championship

Tommies move into fifth place after 14-stroke improvement in round two
MESA, Ariz. – St. Thomas women's golf posted a 14-over-par team score in the second round of the Summit League Championship at Longbow Golf Club, the third-best team score of the day. Freshman Karen Lind Stefansdottir led the way for the Tommies with an even-par 71.
Stefansdottir surged 16 spots up the leaderboard into a tie for 12th place, now just one stroke behind team leader Kathryn VanArragon. She recorded birdies on holes two and 12, and bogeys on three and four, and played her final 14 holes at par or better.
VanArragon matched her first-round score with a 75 (+4) and sits tied for 10th place heading into the final round. Emma Davies climbed into a tie for 18th with a 75, improving by three strokes from round one, and led the Tommies with three birdies on the day.
Genevieve Birkeland rounded out the scoring with a 77 (+6), an 11-stroke improvement from her opening round. Amelia Morton carded an 84 in round two.
As a team, St. Thomas posted a 298 (+14), improving by 14 strokes from round one and moving past South Dakota into fifth place. The Tommies are now 10 strokes back of third place and 15 behind second, while South Dakota State continues to lead at +16.
The Tommies return to the course tomorrow morning for the final round of the Summit League Championship.
