Track & Field splits squad at Iowa State and Minnesota Classic

St. Thomas coming off five record-breaking performances a week ago
ST. PAUL, Minn. -- St. Thomas track & field splits its squad again for a two-meet weekend as it sends student-athletes to the Iowa State Classic and University of Minnesota Classic on Saturday, Feb. 8.
The Iowa State Classic, hosted at the Lied Recreation Athletic Center in Ames, Iowa, begins with throwing events and pole vault at 10 a.m. followed by running events at 11:30 a.m. Live results can be found HERE.
The University of Minnesota Classic, hosted at the University Fieldhouse in Minneapolis, starts with pole vault at 9:30 a.m., followed by throwing events at 11 a.m. and running events at 11:40 a.m. Live results can be found HERE.
Last Time Out
The St. Thomas women's team had a historic outing at the Mark Schuck Open, setting multiple program records and top-10 marks. Rebecca Randleman broke her own 300m dash record with a time of 39.51 seconds, while Olivia Keller (40.34), Hannah Cornelius (40.47), Alexis Pratt (40.64), and Danika Apple (40.95) secured the next four spots in program history. Apple also set a new record in the 60m dash at 7.51 seconds, placing second at the meet. In the jumps, Keller set a new long jump record at 5.90m, surpassing a mark that stood since 2005. Christina Driver moved to second all-time in the triple jump (11.72m), while Morgan Koppelman cleared 3.61m in the pole vault for fourth all-time.
The men's team also posted record performances, led by Mitchell Piehl's new 300m dash program record of 34.90 seconds, good for second place. Jayson Koel and Jacob Gilbertson also entered the top-10 list in the event. Jack Rosner tied the 60m hurdles program record at 8.05 seconds, placing third, while Maki Whelan secured sixth all-time in the heptathlon hurdles at 8.40 seconds. Riddik Collier sprinted to seventh all-time in the 60m dash, finishing third. In distance events, Blake Burnstad won the 1000m run in 2:27.37 (third all-time), and Joe McNeil took first in the 3000m run at 8:27.97, ranking ninth in program history.
