Women’s Hockey readies for home and home with No. 3 Minnesota

Tommies set to finish first half of season with home and home against the Gophers
ST. PAUL, MINN- The St. Thomas women's hockey team (8-10-0, 3-9-0) ready for home and home series against crosstown rivals the No. 3 Minnesota Gophers (12-4-0, 8-4-0).
Friday's game will be played at Lee & Penny Anderson Arena in St. Paul with a 2 p.m. puck drop. St. Thomas will then travel across the river for game to at Ridder Arena on Saturday for a 2 p.m. puck drop.
This WCHA series will wrap up the first half of the 2025-26 season for the Tommies. The Purple will return January 9 & 10 to open the second half of the season at home against the Bemidji State Beavers.

Last Time Out
The Tommies traveled to Madison, Wisconsin back on November 20th and 21st to take on the No. 1 Wisconsin Badgers. The Tommies perserved and earned one WCHA point after taking the Badgers to overtime in game two after falling 8-0 in game one.
Madison Brown, Teagan Kulenkamp, and Rylee Bartz tallied the three goals in the Tommies 4-3 overtime loss to the Badgers.
Strength in numbers
As a team, the Tommies have totaled 16 power play goals through the first 18 games of the season. Ilsa Lindaman and Ellah Hause lead the team with three a piece. Rylee Bartz, Ella Boerger, Chloe Boreen, and Maddie Brown are just behind with two each.
WCHA Honors
The Tommies have received four weekly league honors so far this season. Rylee Bartz leads the way with two forward of the week honors.

Jenessa Gazdik –Defender of the week (Nov. 10)
WCHA Leader Board
The Purple and Gray offense sits second on the WCHA leader board in power-play percentage with a .271 and blocked shots with an average of 12.33 per game.
Individually, Rylee Bartz leads the league in the face-off wins/total face-off category with 222 wins and 157 losses for a .586 winning percentage. Ella Boerger sits third also with 222 wins and only 119 losses for .651 winning percentage.
JuliAnna Gazdik has totaled 30 blocks on the year putting her tied for first on the WCHA leaderboard. Ellah Hause and Haley Maxwell are just behind with 29.
DI Era Record Holders
Rylee Bartz (59), Ella Boerger (59), and Madison Brown (48) make up the top three in career points.
Ella Boerger (38), and Rylee Bartz (31), round out the top two in D1 era assists.
Rylee Bartz leads the Tommie offense with 28 goals in the SD1 era.
Scouting the Gophers
As a team, the No. 3 Minnesota Golden Gophers currently sit 12-4 overall and 8-4 in conference play. The four Gopher losses have come to Ohio State, Wisconsin and most recently Minnesota State, as the Mavericks swept the Gophers back on Nov. 21-22.
Graduate student and member of team USA Abbey Murphy leads the way for the Gophers with 18 goals and 14 assists on the season.
In goal, sophomore Hannah Clark holds a 1.90 goals-against average with a .932 save percentage.
History with the Gophers
This will be the 21st time the Gophers and the Tommies face off. St. Thomas is 0-20 against the Golden Gophers and are looking to break that streak.
