St. Thomas falls 5-3 in battle with No. 3 Minnesota

Horton tallies two goals and an assist in the loss.
ST. PAUL, MINN. - The St. Thomas Tommies (8-11-0, 4-9-0) fall 5-3 to No. 3 Minnesota Gophers (13-4-0, 9-4-0) Friday evening. Whitney Horton tallies two goals and an assist in the loss. JuliAnna Gazdik aslo tallied a goal and an assist. Minotti tallied 41 saves in net.
Scoring Summary:
First Period: The Gophers struck first scoring six minutes into the contest. St. Thomas then evend things at one on their second power play opportunity of the day. Whitney Horton netted her fourth off the season off assists from Chloe Boreen and Julianna Gazdik.
Second Period: The second period was similar to the first as each team notched two goals. Minnesota stuck first again six minutes into the first. Whitney Horton then tallied her second of the game on a breakaway to even the game at two heading into the third.
Third Period: The third period was much different than the first as four goals were scored. The Gophers once again struck first in the period to take a 3-2 lead before JuliAnna Gazdik tallied her second of the season to tie the game at 3. Assists came from Whitney Horton and Rylee Bartz. Minnesota then scored the final two goals of the game to take the 5-3 victory.
Up Next
The Tommies will head across the river to Ridder Arena to take on the Gophers again tomorrow, Dec. 6th for the final game of 2025. Puck drop is slated for 2 p.m.
