During their last meet, sophomore Caden Nordberg took little time to stamp his name in the St. Thomas indoor track & field record book after breaking the program mark in the mile run at the Cyclone Open on Jan. 19. He was one of 13 men's and 13 women's student-athletes to set personal record marks while both programs combined for two event wins.
Nordberg, participating in his first meet of the 2024 indoor season, ran a time of 4:08.44 in the mile to break the previous record of 4:08.78 set by Morey Smith at the Summit League Indoor Championships in 2022. The time ranks first in the Summit League this season while the Tommies set seven of the conference's top 10 times in the event.
Overall, the men recorded four top three finishes with one event win while the women came away with two top three finishes, including one win.
At the M City Classic indoor season opener, sophomore Olivia Keller and junior Josie Liebl each broke the St. Thomas pentathlon record. The duo of Keller and Liebl were part of 14 top-five finishes by the women while the men finished with eight top-five finishes and two event wins.
