Men's Golf starts busy April with Illinois tourney

St. Paul, Minn. – Tommie Men's Golf kicks off a busy month of April with a two-day trip to Silvis, Ill., Monday and Tuesday April 3-4, to compete in the TPC Deere Run Invitational hosted by Western Illinois University.
The event features a challenging par-71, 18-hole course covering 6,804 yards. Monday features 36 holes of play, with the final 18 set for Tuesday.
St. Thomas' lineup consists of junior Matthew Armstrong; redshirt junior Will Frazier, senior Matthew Garside; freshman Owen Rexing; and junior Glavine Schugel.
Nine other teams are set to compete for Monday and Tuesday including Summit League opponents Western Illinois, North Dakota, Omaha and South Dakota, as well as Northern Iowa, Detroit Mercy, Evansville, UW-Parkside and NAIA school St. Ambrose University.

Last Time Out
The Toms shot rounds of 300-289-297 at their last tournament, Feb. 19-21, in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., a score that tied for ninth place out of 16 teams. Frazier led the Tommies with a 72-74-72-218 to tie for 13th place out of 91 players. Owen Rexing and Matthew Garside tied for 27th place with a score of 221, and Matthew Armstrong shot a 226 to tie for 51st place.
Less than one stroke separates the 2022-23 season average of Tommies' top five players, from a low of 74.4 to 75.2.
The Purple have two other April tournaments scheduled in mid-April before the conclusion of their season at the Summit League Championships in Lincoln, Neb., April 30-May 1-2.
