Rexing, Roloff tie for third as Tommies take fifth at Rutherford Intercollegiate

The Tommies take fifth place in a competitive 13 team field
STATE COLLEGE, Penn. – St. Thomas men's golf continued its late-season surge with a second straight top-five finish, placing fifth in a competitive 13-team field at the Rutherford Intercollegiate, hosted by Penn State at the University Golf Course.
The Tommies placed three golfers in the top 10, led by Owen Rexing and Mason Roloff, who tied for third at two-under-par. Gavin Newkirk added a top-10 finish, tying for 10th at one-over.
Roloff recorded the lowest round of the tournament for St. Thomas with a four-under 67 in round one, helping the Tommies to a team score of three-under in the opening round. He carded a three-under front nine and added another stroke on the back despite a double bogey on the 15th. Rexing followed closely with a 68, fueled by seven birdies, while Newkirk opened with an even-par 72.
Rexing was the lone Tommie under par in round two, posting a two-under 70. Roloff and Newkirk each shot 72, while Jesse Hand added a 74 to round out the team scoring.
On the final day, Newkirk led the way with a two-under 70, climbing 10 spots on the leaderboard. Roloff closed with a 72 and Rexing added a 73, as the trio consistently paced St. Thomas through the tournament.
Penn State claimed the team title, finishing 11 strokes clear of the field. St. Thomas ended just five strokes out of second place and was the only Summit League program in the field.
