Miles Bollinger earns top-10 finish after second-round hole-in-one
MADISON, Wis. – Tommie men's golf did not shoot a collective round over par en route to a fifth-place finish at the 2026 Badger Invitational, hosted by the University of Wisconsin at its home golf course. Miles Bollinger led the way for the Tommies with a ninth-place finish, highlighted by a second-round hole-in-one.
The Tommies shot 283-285-288 — five-under, three-under and even-par, respectively — to finish one stroke out of the top three. South Dakota State claimed second place as the highest-finishing Summit League squad, but the Tommies outpaced fellow league members North Dakota, South Dakota, North Dakota State and Omaha.
St. Thomas' top three finishers were Miles Bollinger in ninth, Anthony Jomphe tied for 13th and Tyler McNeive tied for 16th.
Bollinger's best round of the competition was a second-round 67 (-5) that included an eagle on his ninth hole and a hole-in-one on his 12th. The sophomore shot even par in the first round before a one-over final round dropped him five spots on the last day.
Jomphe was the tournament's biggest climber, firing a third-round 68 (-4) to move up 25 spots on the final day after rounds of 71 and 75 to start the week. The Canadian began his final round on the sixth hole, made birdie on three of his first six holes, sandwiched a pair of bogeys around an eagle on 16, and then played the remaining six holes at one-under. His nearest teammate, Tyler McNeive, went four-under in the first round, one-under in the second and four-over in his final trip around the course. His first-round 68 was bogey-free.
Gavin Newkirk took 65th place and peaked on the final day with a 71, while Braydon Pulcanio rounded out the Tommies' scoring in 80th place.
In other news, Zach Rouleau led a trio of Tommies competing as individuals at the Goat Hill Indy Championship, finishing third after going two-under-par. He played one of the best rounds of his career in the second round, carding a 66 (-4) that included seven birdies.
