Tommies finish 6th of 13 participating teams
KETTERING, Ohio – St. Thomas men's golf concluded the fall portion of their 2026-27 season with a sixth-place finish at the Dayton Flyer Invitational in Kettering, Ohio. Miles Bollinger once again led the Tommies with his back-to-back eagles in the first round vaulting him to a career-best second place finish.
The Tommies in their debut at the invitational shot 867 (+15) to finish sixth, highlighted by a first round 281 (-3) that was second only to Butler who took first in the invitational after tying for first last year. Neither Bollinger nor Tyler McNeive shot over par in any of three rounds, both finishing in the top ten.
Bollinger became the first Tommie to card back-to-back eagles in program history and finished with a career-low 208 (-5). He dazzled throughout the tournament and went head-to-head with Butler's Logan Sutto, finishing just one stroke shy of a tie for first. McNeive finished with a consistent 212 (-1), just the second time in his career he shot at-or-under par throughout the course of a tournament. He climbed six spots on the final day with a third round 70 (-1) to finish T-7th.
Anthony Jomphe, who placed T-31st, opened the tournament with a squeaky clean career-high 65 (-6) in the first round, the lowest of the tournament and the lowest of any Tommie golfer since Matthew Armstrong carded a 65 at the 2024 Highland Meadows Intercollegiate. Freshman Braydon Pulcanio placed T-64th and Zach Rouleau finished T-80th.
Jesse Hand, participating as an individual, had a career day with a first-round career-low 68 (-3) en route to a career best 215 (+2) and tying for 12th, another personal best. As if that was not enough, Hand capped it off with his first career eagle in the second round.
